The BIG News!

So........
The big secret I've been keeping.  The one I've been teasing you with.  The one I keep hinting at and then run away giggling to myself......

Well....
Here it is!!!!

I'm Published!!!!!!

My Halloween sculptures made it into this issue!
I don't know if you remember, but those were my first attempt at sculpting....ever!  You can read that post HERE.

I submitted them over a year and a half ago and heard just before going on vacation that they were selected!  I have to admit I blabbed a little, but I was waiting....waiting until I could hold the magazine in my trembling hands and shout from the rooftops....
I'M PUBLISHED!!!

Can you tell I'm excited?!
I've been so excited, I made new sculptures to commemorate the event!
Before I show you I wanted to tell you that I added a CLEARANCE Section to my store where I drastically reduced a bunch of paintings and other goodies.  I won't be renewing them, so grab them now....stock up on gifts....and use this 10% OFF coupon on your entire purchase to sweeten the deal!

Enter CELEBRATEWITHME at checkout :)

I gave you this sneak peek on Facebook a couple weeks back.

This became my very first try at a doll.  This is Mango :)

I love cat paw pads....so he had to have them, too.

After I made him.  I tried a different face shape.

This is "Spats"
Tuxedo cats are special to me now that I own one :)

These really were labor intensive.  I have one more body ready to apply clay to, but to be honest, I don't think I'm going to tackle that anytime soon.  These may be the only two I ever make.
Who knows....

I've been working in clay so much over the past few weeks!

Look at these cool pumpkins I made.
I call them my "Sleepy Hollow" Series.

(sold)

All the text is cut from a vintage copy of the book.
"Sleepy Hollow was famous for Goblin Pumpkins"

"Sleepy Hollow is the most haunted spot in the world"

"shocking things happen in Sleepy Hollow"

"Sleepy Hollow is full of strange spirits"

"Welcome to Sleepy Hollow"

These are fun to make.  Each takes on a personality of its own.  I like flipping through the pages of the book and trying to make phrases that go with their expression.

...and because Halloween is not complete without a bit of the macabre, I made these:

4 pairs of fangs for your curiousity cabinet.

This little piggy had rigor mortis.....

(Sorry, Natasha May) She hates it when I show digits in jars..haha!
I used driftwood as the bones.
They are perfect for this because they are already discolored and rounded....and the paperclay sticks to the wood easily.

They are all in the shop....get 'em while they're hot!
Don't forget to use the coupon code CELEBRATEWITHME to get even more off :)

Thank you, thank you to all of you for your support, excitement and friendship!
It makes me so happy to share my life, creative and otherwise, with you!!

Biggest hugs!
Cam

Quick Update

Hello All!

So glad to have you here again!  I've been keeping busy, busy, busy!
This is my favorite time of year.....and my mind won't stop swimming with new ideas....and my to do list grows perpetually longer :D

Here are some things that have crossed my work desk lately.

2 more mermaids in progress.  I've been getting some wonderful pieces from talented ladies who have signed up for my Mermaid Swap.  There is still another week to get those mermaids in the mail!

I will do a huge post at the close of it to show off all the lovely things that are now mine, all mine....mwuahaha!

Hmmmmm.....these look interesting!

All the brown is pigment ink from hand aging a million witchy jar labels for my shop.  You can see them there in the photo below.

There also sits a little black lump.

I had an old empty spool and wondered what it would look like if I added a head and threw some clay over it all.  I think he turned out quite nicely :)

I just love making black cats.  I've made some before, if you remember....and I'm sure there will be more in my future ;P

...and what of those weird golf tee looking things from before?

Well, they became these!

For the discerning Collector to enhance their Cabinet of Curiousities!

These items are sitting on the shelves of my humble shop.

Thank you so much to all of you who come back here again and again to visit with me!
Having you as my peers and friends makes doing what I do so much richer...
.....and a whole lot more fun!

Candy corn kisses,
Cam

Pretty Sticky

Just jumping in again this week to join the lovelies at Butterfly Effect and their theme of FLOWERS.

I don't know why I've had stickers on my mind. I've always adored them and collected them in grade school. I still get giddy over a yummy scratch-n-sniff one or an extra glittery one :)

I even ordered some stickers with my art on them from MOO!  I can't wait to get those!
So, it just felt appropriate to spend some time getting my sticky on ;P

Maggie and I used Sharpies to draw shapes and designs on thicker sheets of white paper.
It was a nice way to spend some time together...sitting side by side, doodling and admiring each other's work :)
These are mine...

Maggie's are below.

...then we colored them in with Prismacolor pencils.

I cut them out when they were ready and sent them through this.

Do you have a Xyron machine? If you don't, look into one!!  You put your diecuts, photos, random bits of paper, fabric, anything that isn't too thick in...crank the handle...and it comes out the other side as a sticker!!

You can also get laminate cartridges and magnet backing cartridges, if you prefer. It comes in a 12 inch size, too, but, I'm financially challenged and could only afford the 5 incher.

I LOVE my Xyron!  I used it to make those Witch Pantry Labels last Halloween....remember those?

Now, I have some pretty embellishments for my envelopes :)

Hope you have a flower-filled week!

Yours in stickiness,
Cam ;P

A Halloween Tale ~ with a Treat!

Dreaming in our little beds...
A crow's call "Caw, caw" in our heads...
We wake with a start, aroused from slumber,
get out of bed and nearly stumble....
The ground all around is littered with bones,
....in the distance, there are creaks and moans...
A chill runs through us, we're not at home...
We are in a garden where only tombstones grow.
Each skull seemingly peering...
into our very souls...
And inside the tombs is an eerie glow...
We hurry swiftly, quickly trying to find
a place to hide til this nightmare subsides...
Up ahead, there is a light.
A lantern on the porch of a crickety old shack
beckons us to approach...
Though a tingle says stay back.
A lump forms in your throat...
Better to go...
Then wait for him to attack!
The door opens without effort...
We peek cautiously inside...
One wall is ablaze with flickering candlelight.
A piano before us
looks like it never plays...
A broom leaned on its side...
Books and photos displayed.
A black cat sits upon the floor
near a chair and a cauldron
we swear wasn't bubbling before...
...and on a tray near the brew
are jars filled with a slew
of ingredients most bizarre,
Items like decay and spider eggs...and things grosser, by far...
Another room down the hall
to the the right
Holds even more peculiar sights...
Jewelry and candles..
pictures of a beau?
Edgar Allen Poe!
A hat stand for a Crone's cone...
And are those eyes we spy
in that ornate jar?
Plucked fresh, the tag describes
when beauty was ripe within these eyes...
Nevermore.
....and hanging on the door
Witch's tights!
Have we found her boo-doir?
What could be next,
we wonder as we step
into the livingroom we go to inspect...
The fireplace mantle is shrouded and dressed...
...and someone is trying to escape the chest...
A boneyard atrium with a warning to beware..
we dare not let out spirits locked in there...
The table is hospitably set...
with tea and chocolates just waiting for guests.
Wait! Is that an insect?!
We find ourselves relaxing
even if just a bit...
...and I giggle to myself
as I tell you my secret.

I'm the one who brought you here,
My Dear,
to have tea with me!

Every year
Near Halloween
I prepare for company.

I empty out my pantry shelf
I cast a spell...to make a switch.
I close my eyes and make a wish....
And transform to my Witchy self!
Heeeheeheeeheeee!
Thank you so for joining me...and to the Lovely Vanessa Valencia for hosting this chance at spooky mayhem and revelry!!
Don't leave just yet, I have a Treat,
That one of you soon may receive...

Please leave a comment down below
and a way to reach you in case I don't know.
A guest will be chosen on October 29th
...and this crow will find a new place to reside :)

Okay, ryhming's over...phew!
Does anyone remember where I left my broom?
(sorry)

Heeeheeeheeehee!
