Duck, Duck, Swan

My Dears,

In keeping with my reflectiveness of late....another birthday passed.....dwelling far too much on the aging process and things being left behind (my teenage metabolism, unabashed spunkiness, perky boobies, hair that didn't require coloring, the excitement of finding love...over and over...haha!)

I have decided to not mourn these things....for, experience is not to be held on to, but to savor...the uncertainty of "seeing someone" has blossomed into a fulfilling marriage....my breasts allowed me to nourish a baby....graying hair and wrinkles are a small price to pay for the joy of continuing my experience here on Earth.

With this being said, and realizing that I need to focus on seeing myself in a positive light, rather than my skewed perception of what I think everyone else sees...I created this.....

"Always a Swan"
8 x 10 inches on canvas

We all need reminders sometimes....that we don't have to feel like ugly ducklings.....in fact, no one can make us one, if we don't already believe it's true.
Inside us, lies a beauty and strength that is timeless....ageless....magical.....

We are unique....each of us, special.......with gifts and talents to share....an inner light radiating out through our words, our actions, our emotions....

How could we EVER have thought ourselves ugly ducklings...outcasts and worthless?!!!!
When we are, and will always, always remain.....Swans!!

We are incredible!  *group hug*

Thank you so much, Dear Family and Friends, for believing in me....I believe in you, too!
Lotsa Love,
Cam

my view on my boobs lost to baby was that its a childs way of ensuring their mothers can never embarrasssss them by becoming a stripper ever again (not that I was). Kids are smart!

And you my sweet are incredible, swans are so special and you make a great point of appreciating what we are. Is this your meditation art??? its great that your delving into these places, its enjoyable to watch!

keep up the work

Your painting is beautiful and so are the words on it.

I don't really miss much about my youth other than my mind! I would like perkier boobs, but would rather buy fabric with the money it would take to lift these babies back to their orginial state!

Lovely painting and your post was great!

First of all, about your boobie issue. That's why God made push-up bras. Secondly, truly, getting older is so much better than you think. And it really is just a "state of mind." It IS! Heck, half the time I can't remember how old I am! And that's a good place to be. It's all relative. You are fabulous as is your art. You are perfect, my dear. Don't forget it!! - Cheers, Kathy

Good on you and what a beautiful artwork! Well Done.

Here is one for you: Age is just numbers. You're more than that number. You are YOU and YOU ARE MAGNIFICENT! ;)

I love this post Cam. Your words are just what I need to hear, and what I need to believe, too. What an amazing piece of art! I'm going to be looking at this post now whenever I feel like I need to see it and hear those words again! <3

And the best part of aging is what we learn from our experiences--I love that part--it's ours and no youthful person will never really have that quality until they too are older.

And I also know now--how we treat and see ourselves is how others will see us too. (It took me a long time to apply that to myself)

Beautiful art!

well any blog that starts off talking about perky boobies in the first few lines gets my attention lol ;)

Happy belated birthday to you my sweet blog friend, I know I have been rubbish at blogging lately, that will change when the puppy gets a bit older I hope.

You truly are a swan, 'with age comes beauty'.

hugs you

simply beautiful! thanks for the reminder, I certainly know what you mean about birthdays, and how we sometimes focus on what we've lost, rather than what we gained. What a wonderful idea to create such an inspiring piece of art, to always remind you that you are perfect.
blessings to you!

Beautiful encouraging words. Especially seeing as my boobies are now very unperky - especially one of them! lol. Oh and that my hair is in need of a colour..

Happy belated birthday to you! :)

And a huge thank you for all the encouragement on my blog! xo

Whenever I begin to pick apart the "flaws" of my now 48 year old body, I remind myself that four beautiful women are now gracing this world because they grew within this body. My breasts, which are only now beginning to show signs of aging, provided the sole nourishment for my four baby daughters over the course of ten years, straight. And the grey hair around my temples which is becoming more and more prevalent, amuses me because I have always looked very young.

Your words and your beautiful creations are lovely reminders that instead of being harsh on ourselves, we should become even gentler with age. We are here, we are beautiful and we are women, the nurturers of the world. We should nurture one another. Thank you for doing so with your beautiful post.

Thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving me such a lovely comment:) Hello neighbor! So nice to meet you:)

Hugs,
Debbie

Happy Birthday Cameron! What a beautiful thought and painting. I am right with you on all of it. I was just talking about this the other day. I would not give up knowing what it was like to live in a world without cell phones, internet and cable TV to be young again. Experience is worth aging. So true. I know my parents feel the same way about living in the 50's. They would never want to give that experience up.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaa very merry unbirthday
To me
To who?
To me
Oh, you

A very merry unbirthday
To you
Who, me?
To you
Oh, me

Let's all congratulate us with another cup of tea
A very merry unbirthday to you

Now statistics prove
Prove that you've one birthday
Imagine just one birthday every year
Ah, but there are 364 unbirthdays
Precisely why we're gathered here to cheer

A very merry unbirthday
To me?
To you
A very merry unbirthday
For me?
For you
Now blow the candle out, my dear
And make your wish come true
A very merry unbirthday to you

You're only as old as the man (or woman, whatever your fancy) you feel *g* I happen to have a toyboy nearly 5 years younger than me but he is an old fart whereas I am young and childlike trapped in a knackered broken down body. Go figure!

Love and adore your gorgeous painting as always missus :)

What a great post! I am glad I read it since I will be turning...yikes...53...in a couple of weeks! Relationships are so much more important than looks! I have three kids in college--all living at home right now and believe it or not I am enjoying every minute of it. I know it won't be long before I will be empty nesting...but that will be a whole new chapter in my life...
Have a wonderful evening!
