Hi Everyone!
Do you have old artwork of yours around your house? Stuff that you created that's really not worthy of selling...but too nice to throw away? Maybe they tell a little story that you are reminded of when you find them again?
I was looking thru my dusty portfolio just now....and ran across this....
I drew this in Prismacolor Pencil and ink back in 2005.... I called it "Contemplation".
I had not really worked solely in colored pencils before this drawing....and haven't done any after, either...haha!
This was also the year I had this brilliant plan to paint 12 new pieces and make a calendar of my art for Christmas gifts...
Unfortunately, this idea is still on my to do list...lol! But, I did manage to paint this with the idea of it being April's image....

...and then, there's this piece...done 16 years ago! (I was 16 years old at the time)...Wow, that seems like such a long time ago....and yet, I can still remember sitting at the kitchen table after everyone else was asleep with my art supplies scattered around me, drawing this....
Not much has changed :)
It was a gift for my grandparents one year for Christmas....my grandpa loved birds...
I look at this piece and it reminds me, not only of them, but of the young girl I was once...the girl who wanted nothing more than to be an artist when she grew up!
I'm still working on both :D

Hope you all have the things you love scattered about you today!!!
Hugs,
Cameron

Cameron you are so talented!!! Truly, you have such a gift!! Love your work friend!
Just stumbled across your blog; Love your style, beautiful...
It's fun to look back on works of old. i used to make little wooden signs - i came across some pics the other day and had such fun looking at all the hard work i did. it's also interesting to realise that a creative soul is always a creative soul and we can trace it back - with fond memories.
I've still got lots of old paintings, drawings etc. I love looking back on them and seeing how my style has changed, but also see that both the new and old have the same hint of 'me' in them!
I'm actually spending a lot more time being creative than I ever thought I would. Mainly because of blogging I think, I'm constantly seeing examples of fabulous things that make me want to go make something myself! And I like sharing my creations with other people, not just my husband who doesn't quite 'get' it! x
Isn't it amazing with older pieces of art how you can remember everything about them? The what's and where's?
I often wonder how art/creativity is hard wired into our minds to keep the memories so vivid.
Now, what I ate or did yesterday???
Good luck...
Love the walk down memory lane...

It's funny how your art is imprinted with you. I can tell that Toucan was painted by you even though it's been years ago. Your style is there! And for the record, don't grow up. It's highly overrated.
cheers,
Kathy
Gosh! SO much talent. I love finding my old artwork just to see what I was into drawing back in the day. You artwork has always been so colorful and lovely!!!
XOXO,
Shayla
Oh how lovely!! I would be way too shy to show my old art off... it's not good! LOL
You sure have a natural talent.
What is the color called on your wall in the previous post, where you have the two revamped frames with the gorgeous gals in them? it's a brown/beige color... exactly what I am after.
Ahhh...I really enjoyed this post! :)

Wow - Cameron! These pieces are really beautiful. I still have a lot of pieces that I did while in high school. I was obsessed with musicians (still am) and look back every now and then at all my old pencil drawings. I really have no idea back then where I thought I'd be now. I never did like to think that far ahead...LOL Theresa
Loved the artful journey through your past...the toucan is gorgeous
oh a lovely journey thru time and memories just beautiful x i have a to do list like that lol
So very nice! Your fairy is amazing. You are oh so talented!

I totally have tons of old artwork that I can't bring myself to throw away, but that I also don't want to hang up on my own wall! What to do with it all?
Beautiful works! I do have a number of pieces sitting in an old folio that i look at from time to time. I wish I had all my works from my teenage years - I have no idea what happened to them.
Those are lovely! I'm not a great artist myself (I prefer words although I've been known to go into wild sketching crazes!) but every little doodle I've kept from myself or someone else really does have such vivid memories attached to them. I have some sketches that my friend Sahitya did in middle school that I won't part with!
I have a folder of drawings ranging from when I was little to when I did an art night class with my Mum just before she died... there are so many more pieces I remeber doing but got so frustrated I binned them and now as an adult wish I had kept to show my own girls... maybe I'll scan some of the lder stuff to show you Cameron - don't laugh though - they aren't up to your level *g*
