Blood Related

There is an old, dilapidated house on the hill....you know the one everyone walks quickly by.
The stories say that once, a beautiful, young widow lived there. Her husband perished from a strange illness....as did the entire house staff. Townsfolk paid their respects, but when the "illness" began to claim them, as well, the poor widow was locked in the house from the outside. Lest the whole town succumb to her disease.

In honor of Butterfly Effect's Vampire theme this week,
I ventured to capture her likeness.....

This is "The Mistress of the House"
Layers of acrylic paint, prismacolor pencil and ink were used to create her portrait.  Though her features are based on vague descriptions from historical documents and scared recollections of the most elder members of town, I'm told I got her delicate neck and high cheekbones just right. :o)

Painted on a vintage oval canvas...she is currently in my shop where she lies in wait.....heeheeeheee!

When I first started painting, I started with watercolors.  Of course, my love for the macabre was not safe in this medium either :)

Moments after feeding, this Vampire Vixen manages to keep her dress unmarred, but wipes her mouth with the back of her hand...
"Forgot a napkin again," she muses.

I painted her in 2009 and thought she was, perhaps, too bloody for the fare I usually offer in my Etsy store.
But, since the Mistress moved in, I listed this Vamp, as well, to be her neighbor :)

...and, of course, the coupon code for 20% off is still applicable.

I enjoyed sharing these beautiful, but deadly, creatures with you.  Won't you join in this week for some bloody good fun? ;P

Fangs for stopping by,
Cameron

Everything looks more amazing when it comes with a story. I can see the solitude in her light eyes, I bet she misses the sun, too...

Hm, now that they are neighbors, maybe "The Mistress of the House" will give the stunning blood-sucker in pink a napkin. It would be a shame to ruin such a pretty dress ;-)

It's actually alright to include wonderfully done macabre in your store. Not everyone's up for the bubblegum pop and the eye-candy. And to tell you, the niched hunters would love them. :)

How scary is this! I think you need the water colour going, what a grand job you did there. I love the story about the widow. It reminds me of a story my dad told me about a house that stood on the little iland Texel we lived on. I was only three when he showed me the house, it wasn't scary it was more weird. The lady lived with farm animals inside a very small house and everything was upside down. It must have impressed me at such an early age to remember something like that. I love it Cameron very different but very nice too.

Beautiful. Isn't it strange that pictures like these are asociated with this adjective rather than "spooky" or "creepy"? haha I guess that people from like 200-300 years ago would've shivered whilst looking at your artworks :D nowadays we really like it because the night and the dark sort of lost its danger due to electrical lighting and such.

A beautiful painting, I love those disturbing vampires.

The paintings are awesome - but I do feel unsettled by them. I guess we all have our dark side, where we can explore the unthinkable. Scary stuff but maybe also as you say just bloody good fun!

Okay I love art--talking about it, doing it, and never get tired of seeing everyone else's......and the same goes for anything related to the scary...movies, photos, ghost stories, books--anything!!
So this is a perfect combination for me--you are an awesome artist!!!

Your watercolor work is so amazing Cam! Really detailed and realistic. That's an amazing gift to have. I really love this vamp, and I think it's the perfect time to list her.

And this Mistress! What a cool piece! I love vampires sooo much. Especially the spooky, dark, Anne Rice type.

Hi Cameron!

These two really disturbed me, lol! Very well done my dear! I am more partial to the no table manners hotty and your story had a great impact. My screen is so small I read the story before having any hint of the photo to come! I was startled to say the least - yeay! Halloween came early this year! Hope you and your family have a fab time coming up the coast this year! It is so beautiful.

You've won a copy of AlmaMia Cienfuegos: a Story of Blood, Scars and Nightmares. I will email you, too, but I figured I will add this comment here. AlmaMia might like the vamp ladies ;-)

Ooo, what a story to go along with these two gorgeous ladies of the night! You've captured such a longing in the eyes that's simply breath taking and that was the first thing my own eyes were drawn to.

Great post, and even greater art! <3
