Wings are for Flying

Hello Everyone!
Well, another week has just flown by!
Luckily, I made it back just in time to link up with the Butterfliers this week for their theme of FAIRIES!

I absolutely adore fairies...and mermaids and unicorns and...you get the idea ;P
In fact, I was just finishing a Fairy and Child painting the day I found out I was pregnant...weird, right?!
The painting is in my sidebar for those who've never seen it...

I even turned Maggie into a fairy a couple years ago.  I cut out her photo and added wings with colored pencil for the opening page of one of her scrapbooks.

I still haven't finished this book...or started anymore since, but at least this page turned out cute....haha!

I haven't painted a fairy in ages, so I was really looking forward to making something to link up!
After a few sketches, including this one....

I made this:

Her face kinda reminds me of Scully (Gillian Anderson) from X-files...haha!

I broke out my gold leaf again for her circlet...I just love that stuff :)

The words are bits from vintage children's books that I assembled to make this encouraging message,

You are beautiful, enchanting and wise...
Believe you have wings...
                                  ...and fly

Hope you like her :)

She is in the shop waiting for a new home.
Don't forget about the coupon code BDAYWISHES for 15% off until the end of April, just in case...heehee!

As always, thank you for stopping by!
This weekend we got to the Renaissance Faire!  I'll show pictures as soon as we return.

Oh, and don't worry Drawing Lab Lesson Partners...we will be doing the next Lesson next week, too!  So sorry I've lagged a bit on that :(

Enjoy your weekend...
...use those wings!

Super duper mega hugs,
Cameron

She's wonderful and wise looking! I love how you work with acrylic. I have such trouble with it after spending so much time on watercolors. Do you do your black lines first then paint in the flesh tones? Or the other way around? And it looks like you highlight with something besides acrylic, like colored pencil Or oil pastels? Just being nosey...

She is very beautiful and yes, she does sort of resemble Gillian, haha!
Have a wonderful time at the Ren Faire. yay!! Can't wait to see pics. :)

Yay fairies! She really does look like the lady from the X files lol! I do the same thing sometimes. I'll paint someone who isn't a real person, then realize their resemblance to someone real. That sentence sounded odd but you know what I mean. I would love to do a Skype art date with you! I am in exams until the end of next week but afterwards we should definitely set a date. Send me an email, or I will send you an email. Whichever! This will be so fun!

That scrap page is adorable. I love adding wings! Your painting totally does look like Gillian Anderson! Fun!!!

So when I read this really quick I first read that you were just drawing a fairy and you found out you were pg... my jaw dropped to the floor. Then I re-read it... :D

Aw, your daughter makes such a sweet little fairy! There's nothing more magical than a sleeping child. ^_^

I love your painting! The gold leafing must be tricky to work with...but it adds such a wonderful finish...and her face...she looks like a fairy queen with those regal eyes and elegant nose. ^_^

Again, thank you for the sweet birthday wishes on my blog...I love having you visit! ^_^ Have a great week, Cam!

Ooh, missed this post. I can certainly see Scully in there - think it's the eyes! Maybe that's what she was doing in that prolonged absence that time. It wasn't alien abduction it was faery abduction! Ooer!Maybe this pretty lady is the result of a pairing with a faery lord!

Will stop rambling now ;)

She's gorgeous as is your Maggie book.

hugs x
