Happy and Sad

Hiya Blog Buddies!

Okay, so on the heels of my Unfinished Projects rant...I'm thrilled (the Happy part of the Blog Title) to be able to cross an old one off the list.....a painting started in one media and finished in a bevy of others. Just 1 year and 5 months in the making....haha!

So I'm going to ask you to do something I rarely do....please, if you don't mind *bats eyelashes*

I really can't start this post properly without a little background first...and to do that, I'd like you to read a post from March 2010.....

I promise it will make the reveal that much grander...or so I hope :P
Okay, so go here....pretty please....and come right back!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yay! Now that you're back,
I can explain that I took that painting and cut the girl and the cat away from the background....and adhered her to an 11 x 14 inch canvas.
I re-worked all the watermedia in acrylics and after months of it lying around in that state...
I sat her down in front of me last night.  All was going well, when I added those big gothilicious eyelashes to her....and she instantly looked sad to me....
I was drawn now into a more personal moment than just a girl and her cat....
It was then that I added the tears....that was also when the background demanded them too.
(The sad part of the Blog Title)
I'm not sure why she is crying....but the powerful witch she is, made the sky weep with her.
The thing that really makes this piece look amazing is that I used clear glossy accents to her lashes, the cat's eyes and the streams down her face.  It gives such a neat quality to the otherwise matte finish of it....
Now how about help with a name?
 Usually this is the part I love most, but I haven't been able to come up with anything that conveys the feeling I'm going for.....
~Y'know, like the feeling of having your world crumbling around you, but there is that one special being that can immediately make things better......
~A knowing that "this too shall pass"......
~That feeling as a kid of telling your pets your innermost secrets and believing that they were the only ones who really understood you...
Anyone have a title that says all that?! Haha!  Love to hear your ideas :)
~~Update~~ Thanks to you all for your suggestions....I think I'll call her:
"Eyes to the Soul"
I'm sooooo ready for Autumn...and pumpkins and more black cats!
Thanks so much for sticking with me to the end!
*secret handshake*
Cameron
Oh Cam I LOVE your painting! It's really beautiful. What i love the most is how much the emotion comes through in it--I can really feel the girl's sadness, and the "look" on the cat's face...one of wisdom, a little pain too, and most of all, a serene sort of knowing.
Gorgeous!!!
Hugs from me and my three ;)
Wow! She is wonderful! And I love that you chose a cat. :)As for the title let me think. How about secret sorrows? Ok, that's all I got. :) I thought I'll be all profound and deep today but nothing's happening. :)
I'm terrible at titles, but wow your artwork has evolved a lot since the original post of this! You've captured a feeling in this painting which is just as good, if not better, than excellent artwork.
P.S. Your daughter has an artistic talent!!
A wonderful piece Cam...I just read this so it looks like you've named it before I even had a chance to think about it - Love what you've chosen. I also like Joyce's suggestion "shared sorrows" or "sorrows shared"
I'm so happy that the perfect title revealed itself to you because I'm slow with titles....sometimes. Then sometimes I know early in the process. The painting is beautiful and isn't it wonderful that you waited to go back to it. Had you finished it all that long ago, it would be a different painting. This one was just waiting as nothing ever happens before it is time.
Thanks for sharing.
PS Your little daughter has a precious gift for art.
yes you sure have got animals down to perfection, especially cats, you get theyre eyes so right. My title was 'we are here, we are now' which is so true for me and my cats, the present moment is all they seem to have, and they just give in that moment and then move along to the next. I lurrv my cats.
Glad you finished it, Its quite nice to procatinate sometimes and stretch things over a larger time span.
much love Miss Cameron
Oh wow, Cameron! This is simply stunning. What emotions you managed to convey with this piece. I am actually stumped for a great title. How about something simple - like Solace? Or The Power of Love? I know you'll think of something great! Thank you for sharing the back story of this gorgeous painting! :)
I love this painting. Looking at it actually brought tears to my eyes. I have been in that exact position many times, seeking solace from a feline friend. You have such great talent! Thank you so much for the little package! The stones, glass, etc is just beautiful. I think the little green pieces are my favorite! :)
Hi Cam,
I call it "You Know My Heart." Like her cat knows what's going on inside of her...what do you think?
I really, really love this one. I have had this moment so many times, where only a pet could console me. This is so touching and personal!
She is so beautiful and full of emotion! I think she is crying not because she is sad, but because she is psychically empathic, and she is channeling the energy of the sorrow and suffering of her feline companion to help it heal...the way her eyebrows turn up show a fighting determination and resolve to change, maybe even by using her empathic abilities to help heal the world. Very powerful piece :) I love the cat's eyes!
