Been Busy!

Hello Blog Mateys!

I'm so sorry to be MIA.......Bad Cameron...Bad *slaps hands*
I promise, though, it's all been for a very good reason!

First off, I made a new batch of sea glass hair barrettes with some of the goodies found while beachcombing this Summer.
Take a looksee....

These are just a few.  I had the good fortune of finding some beautiful bits of rare colors this year :)
Oh, and some pretty agates...

....and cute heart-shaped stones, too :)

These are all in the shop for those who'd like a closer peek.

Also, Maggie started 2nd Grade this week.....

So, that's been part of why I've been absent....

BUT, the main reason is something extra special!!

Unfortunately, I can't reveal the secret just yet....even if I am bursting at the seams with excitement!

Something is brewing....
I'll give you a sneak peek, though....because I just can't help myself!

So......I'll keep working away, giggling in anticipation.....
Can't wait to show and tell! :)

Hope your week is filled with good stuff, too!
Hugs all around,
Cam

Dipping into the Sea...........Glass, again!

Hello Wonderful Friends!

I've heard your polite requests, and I am looking forward to getting my hands all covered in paint again!  I hope to have new art here very soon....

But, just so you know I haven't been putting the paint aside for nothing, I've finished up another round of experiment projects using my beloved sea glass collection again.

I've put gorgeous, rounded and smooth pieces on bobby pins, for the first time...

....and love how this showcases the beauty of a single piece.

...and then I tried using the tiniest bits I have, and made earrings!  Placed in the bezel with a pair of tweezers and patience....haha!

Together, the little chips make such a pretty mosaic.  These bezels are just 3/4 of an inch (2 cm) in diameter just to give you an idea how many pieces are in there.
Nothing going to waste here!

As with all these whims I get, I just made a few.....only 4 pairs.  I like to try things, then move on to the next.  Keeps things fresh and exciting for me and the items unique.  I like to think, anyways....haha!  They are in the Shop now :)

So, I am very ready to get some paint slinging to mix things up again :P

For all you sewing girls...and Vintage fans, I wanted to share this with you.

Do you know what it is?

The pins on top are a clue.

Isn't it adorable?!
A wee pin cushion sheath houses small sewing shears for trimming threads and whatnot.

It belonged to my Japanese Grandmother and is about 50 years old.  I think it is just fantastic.
Just listed it in the Vintage Shop today.

Can't believe the weekend is here again...the year already seems to be going so quickly.  Hope your days are filled with all your favorite things!

Hugs all around,
Cam

Just Hanging Around....

....not me, I've been busy...
But I did make some things that do hang around....your neck to be precise :)

I know I said before that I was done carrying jewelry in my store....it is such a highly competetive market....and I felt that my stuff wasn't any different than a lot of the items offered out there.

Until now that is!
I can honestly say, with a huge smile on my face, that you can not purchase a necklace exactly like mine anywhere.  I can say this with confidence because my own artwork is on it...heehee!

They are digital prints done by a professional printer.  1 inch square little works of wearable art under glass :)

I added a little crystal beside the pendants...for a little something fun.

I've only made a small selection of necklaces to start with just to see what the response is like.  Right now, there are just one each of 7 designs and 2 of my Red Fox available.

I also wanted to try using sea glass in a new way.  I have made pendants with them before, but not as large as these!
Actual vintage chains from my Grandmother's jewelry box....

Frames are about 2 inches long...and filled to the brim with beautiful hand-collected sea glass :)
I'm just so thrilled with how these all turned out!

They are in the Shop if you'd like a closer look.

Oh, and a couple of my new favorite listings in the Vintage shop:

Gorgeous leather wallet with a forest scene painted on it.

...and check out the stone in this tie clip! They call it a Watermelon Rhinestone.
I must say, I'm learning all kinds of tidbits researching all these old items....stuff I probably would've never learned in my usual circles :)

Hope you are all keeping busy, too....and for some of you, keeping warm!

Hugs galore,
Cam

P.S. Don't forget, Taylor will be announcing the winner for a complimentary photoshoot next Monday, the 25th....so If you haven't entered yet....please do!

New Clips on the Block

Hello my Fabulous Blog Divas!

Well, November is full swing now, but unfortunately, temperatures are back up into the low 90's today :(
Just when I think I can pull out the sweaters...haha!
Well, despite the non-Christmasy feeling around here, I'm trying to get the shop stocked with new goodies.
I've made some new sea glass hairclips.

This one is all frosty white with one blue-green beauty in the middle. Some of the glass on this clip are an inch or longer!

This one is really unique.  I just love that navy blue pottery piece that the little shell is resting on.

This one is all ocean pottery.  Look at all those fantastic colors!  I wanted to keep the look playful, so I wrapped it in pink wire ;P

I think this might be my favorite.  Up close, those pale blue pieces of pottery have wonderful crackling.  I have such a fondness for crackling...haha!  The serene color scheme is lovely, too.

...and then there is this little petite cutie.  Just an inch and a half long (4 cm) but perfect for adding quick accents to ordinary hairstyles!  These are all now available in my SHOP, if you are interested :)

I currently have clay under my nails...heehee....just a little hint as to what I have in store next!

Thank you so much for the visit!

Clips and Stones

Hello Friends!
Thank you all so much for the Welcome Back wishes...it is so nice coming home to you :)

While I was away, we did brief stops at 2 of my favorite beach combing spots.
We were able to collect some wonderful new pieces of sea glass, pottery, driftwood...

...shells...

...and stones.

Sorting them made we want to dive right in and make more hair clips!
So I did...heehee :)

I just love the crackling that aged pottery gets...and the pale green of that one glass piece is incredible.

I thought these lime zest colors looked like Summertime in clip form :)

I really like how the copper wire coordinates with the little shell in the middle.

I think this is my favorite...that one piece of pottery has a great sunshine yellow enamel still on it.

...but then there's this lovely clip...those blue and green slivers are so subtle, and yet, so special.  I do like this one a lot, too :)

...and then there's the stones.

Isn't it stunning?

...and take a look at these lucky finds <3

Can't be too lucky or find too much love :)

I am having a Christmas In July SALE at ye olde shoppe.  All these creations are currently on the shelves, if you are interested :)

I haven't had any epiphanies on what to do with the driftwood I've collected yet...
Do...

...have any ideas?

Well, off to the Vet's to pick up Sally from spay surgery....then need to take Maggie to Karate class...
Busy, busy!
Big hugs,
Cameron

Remember Me?

So, I try to get back here often....I really do!
I always feel so good when I have a new post under my belt.  I'll be sailing on wonderful visits and delightful comments for a few days.....then a few more days will pass....and I'll keep saying that I need to put a new post up....then a few more days go by....and I start feeling stressed and rushed....it couldn't have been a whole week already, I never finished (fill in the blank) to share!

Well, that's just the way it goes ;P
I don't have as much as I'd like to show you, but, things start to get even busier starting tomorrow....so I hope it will suffice until next week.

It's been pretty warm around here for Winter.....has me thinking of vacation, which gets me excited about Glass Beach....which, in turn, makes me realize I need to make more hair clips :)

It's almost therapeutic sifting and searching through all my found bits of glass and shell....putting them together to make little pieces of wearable art.
I say "almost therapeutic" because while it is relaxing to my brain, my neck protests ;)

Being able to find the perfect way to use those extra special finds is gratifying, though.  I've hoarded them long enough...haha!  That mussel shell above is gorgeous in person.

These are among my favorite colors to find on the beach.....like solidified water droplets.....they almost glow in the sunlight...
See, only 4 new clips....not much.....but, it's something.  I'm working on other things, really!  Like my submissions for Stampington....getting close to done on that whole process....
...and....Lisa from the Wright Stuff and I have decided to do the lessons from this book together every week or so....
Haven't started yet....
Soon, very soon!

Do you have this book, too?
Do you wanna join us?
It looks really fun....loose and playful....
I get so hung up on details and have trouble being loose like this.  I think it will be good for me...for us...
C'mon....play along if you can :D

Oh, and if you are on Skype, let's totally set up some crafty Playdates!!

Hope your February is already starting out wonderfully!
Hugs to you all,
Cam

Our Travels (Part 2)

A great big thank you for the warm welcomes back home!  I have to admit that returning to a stack of bills and unfinished business had me a bit stressed at first.....but as I tackle things little by little, I'm loosening up and enjoying being home.

Most of all, I'm enjoying catching up with all of you..heehee!
I did mention how much I missed you, right?!  Haha!

A few of you were just as amazed as I was about Maggie's sewing skills from last post....
I thought I'd share a pic of the finished product :)

I fastened it to her new backpack. I can't believe she starts Kindergarten this Wednesday!

Okay, so I left off with us in Ferndale....
Where we went next blew my mind!

Have any of you heard of Agate Beach?  We've passed it many times in our travels, but have never stopped before....

You walk down a long steep path to the beach....and when you look down....you see this instead of sand!

Stones of every color polished to perfection by the sea...so smooth, so round...they feel amazing!
After the thrill of Glass Beach, this was an unexpected treat....because if you search hard enough, you'll see why this beach gets it's name.

Agates...shiny, ultra smooth, with a bit of transluscence formed in lava rock where bubbles once hardened...created thru layer after layer of minerals washed within it.  The rock erodes, and these little beauties fall out and make their way to the sea to be tumbled with the other stones....
They look like candy rocks or jellybeans to me...makes me want to eat them :D
Don't worry, I'll find a craftier way to use these...heehee....

Making our way up north, we stopped to take in the views of the ocean whenever we could....the fog would roll in so suddenly and change the whole feel....a vulture in a tree helped, too...

Settling down in one of our most favorite campgrounds ever, we breathed deeply and felt any remaining cares drop away.  The Redwood National Forest is breathtakingly beautiful!  There is a place called Fern Canyon where you are surrounded by walls of greenery....

....the sound of rushing water in your ears as you walk over a clear cool stream....

A fairy lover's paradise....

A gorgeous place to feel renewed and grateful for all that is good....

As if that isn't enough...between the beach and the mountain that makes the canyon, theres is a marsh where the stream water pools....

The Roosevelt Elk love to gather here to eat the tender plants.  These elk are huge, 2nd only to moose!
When you wade thru the marsh, you reach the beach.

Thankfully, her Daddy can put up with the cold, cold water better than I.  Maggie is unfazed by it...even when her lips turn purple and she's shivering...she wants to go in some more...brrr!

We crossed over into Oregon and stopped for more pictures....

It doesn't matter how many times I see these formations....I'm in awe :)

One of our other favorite places to visit is The Westcoast Game Park in Bandon, Oregon....

Not only do you get to appreciate animals from afar (and not too far, at that)....but pet....

....hold....

...and feed some incredible creatures....

I had no idea how hot antlers with velvet on them feel....all those blood vessels bringing heat up to them....

We set up camp in a town called Florence, which just happened to be close enough to arrange to meet a good Blog Friend of mine!   Marty recently relocated to Oregon just in time for our lives to intersect!

Maggie and I had a lovely time getting to know her and her adorable children better.  We hit a few thrift stores and had an all around wonderful time!  The dork that I am, I forgot my camera, but she did a post about our visit here...
Thank you so much, Marty, for your hospitality, your charm and welcoming smile!  So glad I finally got to meet you! (...and thanks for letting me raid your Thrift store stash of goodies...heehee!)

We continued our vacation with more trips to the beach...

Playing with the driftwood...

Jim got his shadow in there to make sure he was still part of the picture :)
Here's my windswept Darling in the driftwood teepee behind us....

We ended up going almost all the way to the top of Oregon, but somehow don't have many pictures...(not too dissappointed, are you...hehe?)
But on the way back down, we stopped at a viewpoint near Big Sur....

A house once stood at this location, built in the '40's....
The master bedroom looked out on this....

Can you imagine?  The water was just gorgeous.  I don't think I've ever seen it look that clear or that blue-green in California....ever!

I hope most of you are still awake...heehee!
That was a lot of pictures, I know.  Thanks for stopping in to see them...

I'll leave you with just 2 more...the hair clips that I've made so far.

In the shop now :)

I'm making my rounds, I apologize if I haven't gotten to you yet....trying to check in between loads of laundry and re-organizing.  You are all so important to me.  Wish I could travel and meet each and every one of you!

Have a fantastic week ahead!
Hugs and a pucker...Mwah!
