Wings are for Flying

Hello Everyone!
Well, another week has just flown by!
Luckily, I made it back just in time to link up with the Butterfliers this week for their theme of FAIRIES!

I absolutely adore fairies...and mermaids and unicorns and...you get the idea ;P
In fact, I was just finishing a Fairy and Child painting the day I found out I was pregnant...weird, right?!
The painting is in my sidebar for those who've never seen it...

I even turned Maggie into a fairy a couple years ago.  I cut out her photo and added wings with colored pencil for the opening page of one of her scrapbooks.

I still haven't finished this book...or started anymore since, but at least this page turned out cute....haha!

I haven't painted a fairy in ages, so I was really looking forward to making something to link up!
After a few sketches, including this one....

I made this:

Her face kinda reminds me of Scully (Gillian Anderson) from X-files...haha!

I broke out my gold leaf again for her circlet...I just love that stuff :)

The words are bits from vintage children's books that I assembled to make this encouraging message,

You are beautiful, enchanting and wise...
Believe you have wings...
                                  ...and fly

Hope you like her :)

She is in the shop waiting for a new home.
Don't forget about the coupon code BDAYWISHES for 15% off until the end of April, just in case...heehee!

As always, thank you for stopping by!
This weekend we got to the Renaissance Faire!  I'll show pictures as soon as we return.

Oh, and don't worry Drawing Lab Lesson Partners...we will be doing the next Lesson next week, too!  So sorry I've lagged a bit on that :(

Enjoy your weekend...
...use those wings!

Super duper mega hugs,
Cameron

Oldies, but Goodies

Hi Everyone!

Do you have old artwork of yours around your house?  Stuff that you created that's really not worthy of selling...but too nice to throw away?   Maybe they tell a little story that you are reminded of when you find them again?

I was looking thru my dusty portfolio just now....and ran across this....

I drew this in Prismacolor Pencil and ink back in 2005.... I called it "Contemplation".
I had not really worked solely in colored pencils before this drawing....and haven't done any after, either...haha!

This was also the year I had this brilliant plan to paint 12 new pieces and make a calendar of my art for Christmas gifts...

Unfortunately, this idea is still on my to do list...lol!  But, I did manage to paint this with the idea of it being April's image....

...and then, there's this piece...done 16 years ago! (I was 16 years old at the time)...Wow, that seems like such a long time ago....and yet, I can still remember sitting at the kitchen table after everyone else was asleep with my art supplies scattered around me, drawing this....
Not much has changed :)

It was a gift for my grandparents one year for Christmas....my grandpa loved birds...

I look at this piece and it reminds me, not only of them, but of the young girl I was once...the girl who wanted nothing more than to be an artist when she grew up!
I'm still working on both :D

Hope you all have the things you love scattered about you today!!!
Hugs,

Where Your Roots Are

It seems, fellow Magic Seekers, that the Fairy Folk are emerging from their Wintery abodes to do some sprucing up for the Spring.  It must be just as exciting for them, as it is for us, to welcome the warm sunshine on their tiny faces and revel in the greenery sprouting up all around us!

I'm assuming, anyway, that this is true. You may remember I was gifted by the glimpse of a fairy home last month.  Well, it's happened again!  In the roots of another old Olive tree it was.  And I must say that they are really decorating in bold Fairy fashion....all aglitter and aglow....

Why after living here all this time am I priviledged to spot their dwellings now?  I believe it is my daughter's doing.... My first sighting was while I was hearing her laughter in my mind...this one, well, she actually spotted.

You see, blue is her favorite color...an interesting coincidence, don't you think?!   She wanted to knock on the tiny door...but, since we were empty handed, I told her we'd try when we had a little gift to offer.  Perhaps we'll return before bedtime with a thimble full of milk and a pretty feather.  Our fairy friends around here seem to have a penchant for them!

So, be on the lookout...I'm thinking that these little Folk are on some kind of mission of late...they are making themselves known.
-Is it to reinstill a bit of Innocence that we seem to lack nowadays?
-Maybe to renew our belief in Possibilities?
-Probably they're just mischievious and want us take other people back to where we saw the door...only to have it not be there anymore....hmmm?  Tricky Little Creatures :)  Good thing I got a few pictures!

Whatever the case, those Folk, their kin and the Spring are always welcome here!
Until we chat again,
Cam
P.S. Of course, you are always welcome, too!  I didn't think that needed mentioning...but in case you were wondering ;-)

It's all in our Heads (or on them!)

Hello All! Hope you had a great weekend! I actually got a ton of crafting done....made 12 of those Bunny treat bags from last post.......made a bunch more sea glass hair clips.....and yet, I feel like I don't have much to offer here today. I'm rushed because it always seems I leave writing my blog til the last few minutes before I must drive to work. I think it's a denial thing...wink, wink....I'm an Artist moonlighting as a Massage Therapist instead of the other way around :) So, I uploaded a few of my new creations (Along with one of my favorite art pieces, "Viola") to share with you to prove that I really did do a lot of stuff....really! Just don't have time to talk about it :(

Maybe in this instance, you can help me out? Let's pretend I have some clever or witty observation written right here...

And maybe some soulful poem I wrote about the ocean here....(hear the waves, imagine a mermaid in the distance wearing this clip. She's saying something to you, it's hard to hear it over the seagulls cries and the crashing of the the surf) :)
I'm dying to know what you think she said!!! Something wonderful, I'm sure~
Thanks for indulging me!

I'll write again soon!

Wow, I guess it's official!

I've been toying around with the idea of starting a blog lately...even created and deleted this 1 once already. Heck, who am I to think I have anything to say? But, then, who are any of us? Just everyday people...living everyday lives... I've decided this blog will serve to be an online journal of sorts.... a place to share my art, my musings, my thoughts even though they may be cranky, beautiful, honest, flawed, etc. Just a place to let things that reside within me to unfold and be recognized. My life has been in need of a little sprucing. Y'know, a little change that gets you out of your old ruts and into something a bit different...even a tad uncomfortable. A chance to become re-energized, perhaps? While this may not be what my dreamlife had in mind...envision a luxurious spa getaway somewhere surrounded by trees, delious food I didn't have to prepare myself, pairs of skilled, warm hands poised for pampering & a stack of magazines as high as my chin...my reallife wins when it comes to funding said dreamlife. So, I guess this blog is my little staycation...where the only massage therapist in the place is me! Bring on the footrubs and tv dinners! Though it will be a little difficult to type at the same time :)

On a more exciting note, I have another photo shoot set up for Wed with my good friend's daughter. She loves to play dress-up and pose for me. I used her pic as a reference for my painting "The Whispering Tree". She is really fun to direct so I think we should get some great shots! Maybe I'll ask her to take some pics of me for a change....hmmmm, those probably wouldn't inspire me to paint....but maybe to exercise!
