Rusty

Hello My Friends!

I don't know why I'm having such a difficult time getting back into a routine after the Holidays.  I'm trying not to be too hard on myself or carry around guilt about unwritten posts and unfinished ( or even started, for that matter ) projects.
Perhaps easing into it all again is best for now.....like 2013 is a vast pool of possibilities...and I'm standing on the edge working up the momentum to dive in.....
I have a feeling that once I'm completely drenched in it, I'm not going to want to get out :)

There is a lot of excitement in the air and I've been giving some thought to a Word for the Year.  Other Bloggers and Creatives have been choosing a special word to help them focus on their goals ahead.  I've never felt that one was necessary in previous years, but this time, there has been one that has surfaced and presented itself on more than one occasion.
...and when I ponder it....it feels right :)

My word is....Intuition.

I want to listen to it more, trust my inner whisperings and believe that there is a purpose and path I naturally know how to get to....if only I would get out of my own way.
I tend to worry too much about what others think I should be doing or overthink things to the point of procrastinating.  I want to take a little less head out of my decisions and put in more heart....more soul.

Something my soul has long wanted to do is take Art Classes.....I'm finally listening!
I will turn 40 in April and asked my Hubby to make my Christmas and Birthday presents be a big Art Conference in May.  My Mom and I signed up for 5 classes over 4 days.  I couldn't be more excited!!  Perhaps some of you are planning to be there?  Please let me know if you are....we could have lunch or dinner together if we're not in the same classes :)

You can find out all about it here :
Create Art Workshops

I'm also proud to say I finally finished a painting sitting on the sidelines.  Remember this fox on my desk back in October?

Well, here he is with his rusty coat on :)

He makes me want to do some more classic, simple animal portraits.

He is in my shop if there are any fox lovers out there :)

Well, My Dears....this post has felt really nice to write.....I think I just dipped my toe in and am finding the water just right :)

Love to you all,
Cameron

Good for you! Art classes can be wonderful. I'm turning 40 this year too, in September. Let's say 1973 is an excellent vintage for creatives, shall we? ;)

This fox is beautiful..such an amazing expression, very well done.

I like your word for 2013 Intuition, very good. Mine is Direction. What do you think? It is something that we need to think about always.

Hope you have a wonderful time with your workshop. Great idea.

I am right there with you, i think the longer one goes without posting the harder it seems to get to get back in... When i was posting regularly that's all i thought about, just needed a break but now it feels good to connect again, and hear about what i have been missing, like your wonderful fox....

my word this year will be focus!

Your art classes sound wonderful and exciting! I hope we get to see what you learn and create!

Lovely to see you, Cam. That's so exciting that you're going to the create retreat!

I go through the same thing every January. Some might be the lack of routine during the holidays, lack of natural light, and trying to figure out where the art is headed in the New Year.
I know once I start, I'm fine!
Love your fox~~just delightful!

XXOO~~

Go for it my friend! Do what makes you feel good and you will be happy! If we all worried about what other people thought, there would be no art in this world ;o) I love your fox! He is so special! He has a look in his eyes ;o)

So jealous for you and your Mum. That is something I'd love to do... Maybe one day when the youngest two are a bit older :-)

I have a word floating around in my head, I haven't blogged it but I tell people when they do posts like yours... Mine is "Dedication" it covers a whole host of things this year for me... Family, art, work... Everything, it just seems to fit.

Lovely post Cam:-)

You sound just like me! I'm always caring too much what others think about me and I am known for overthinking things as well! I also put projects on the side and it takes me forever to get back to them. I LOVE your fox painting! You did an amazing job. Talk to you soon!:)

~i feel as if i have been rusty for the last few years and finally the flakes are starting to fall off...peeling back and exposing new layers that have lay hidden...may the days ahead be guided by your intuition that wants to take the forfront...allow it to wander and take you down path less traveled and expose you to wonderful new adventures to come forth in your life...lucky lady it sounds already...an art retreat will do wonders for your spirit i'm sure...ever so sweet is mr. fox...much love~

Cameron, I think we are kindreds. I just want to copy and paste this post to my blog, because it is completely how I have been feeling. I won't though, because that wouldn't be very nice to steal your words. But I totally relate. You are so inspiring, I love to see what you are creating and what amazing new bit of art you will find. You do and try so many things, my word for you is Brave!! I'm excited for you and your new year journey. I'm certain it will be grand and filled with magic and inspiration. Hooray for new beginnings.
Thanks for always inspiring! Hugs my friend and Happy New Year.
