Almost...but not yet

So, I didn't know.....should I pop in here again after that cliffhanger ending last post....and NOT reveal the big news yet?

I'm waiting 'til September 1st to spill the proverbial beans.  But, I just couldn't wait that long to share a bit of other things I've been working on.

I am so in a Autumn/Halloweeny mood!  Whilst powering through the 1st three seasons of Vampire Diaries, I took out my felt and thread...and tried to multitask :)

Here's a sampling of what I made:

Putrid Green Zombie Head Feltie Keychain OOAK

Zombies are just too fun!  They can come out all crooked and ugly....and it's perfectly expected :D

Zombie Head Feltie Keychain OOAK

I had a Nightmare inspired moment, too.

Bone Daddy Skull Head Stuffed Felt Keychain

And I made this drooling dude, as well.  Have brain, will travel....heehee!
I put them all up in my shop.

So, while I know this is not the same as hearing big news....I hope it almost is.
Just like Autumn is far from coming to my hot, sunny California city....I'm eagerly anticipating!

Thanks to you all for being excited with me!
I'll be back in September.....ready to unveil!

Smiling like a big, toothy jack-o-lantern,

Letting it Come out in the Squash

Hello My Beloved Bloggy Friends....

Sorry for my absence.  I've been up to my gourd in pumpkins lately!
Harvested from a bag of felt scraps and a box of random buttons....I have made my own patch....haha!

10 in all....each a little different...

...with varying expressions...
( I love the face on that one on the left. If he had legs, I'm sure he'd have run away by now....haha!)

Oh, but look at what's on their butts!  My very own label!
Makes them look so professional, don't you think?
I bought them on Etsy HERE :)

I have fun making these fellows....but have to admit, I need a vacation when I'm done....

My neck takes a toll from the constantly looking down....
So, I'm off to relax a bit, but I have something new to share with you!

All the love and care of the bigger Jacks....but in miniature!

....and portable!  That's right. Pins!

A new idea....and there are more swimming around in that noggin of mine :)
These guys are all in my shop, if you feel like picking a pumpkin or two....heehee.

I'll be around tonight to come visit with you all.
Now, to go relax my head for a bit!

Love ya bushels and a peck,
Cameron

Zombies are Coming!! Run....

....to my Shop to get them....heehee!

I never thought I'd put the words cute and zombie together in the same sentence before....but, I must admit....these little guys have quite the infectious personalities!

I had a blast deciding what type of (cute) blood and (cute) gore to add to these brain-craving dudes...

This one has a nasty gash on his head!

This one is agony...over losing his hair....just one tuft left....haha!

This little guy has blood shot eyes and exposed ribs....his putrid green color is....well, perfect...don't you think?

....and this guy is just a mess....literally!

I thought it would be cute to package them up with biohazard warnings on them....especially this guy, oozing as he is ;P

Be warned....more zombies may be coming!
Keep your wits about you....and be aware of where your brain is at all times....
....unless you're a Mom, then, the whereabouts of said brain can be elusive, at best :D

Love ya to bits!

Sew Grateful!

This is Jacque...I'd have to say, that next to my Husband, she's my very best friend :)
She's the kinda crafty, supportive, easy to laugh with, liked by everybody, dependable friend that we all wish to find in Life.

I was lucky to meet her when our girls were just turning 1....taking Gymboree classes together....over 4 years ago now!  My Mom signed me up for these classes to get me out of the house (Thanks Mom!)
I was slowly going insane being at home all day with a new baby....not knowing any "Mommy Friends" to hang out with.

Jacque and Jenna have rescued Me and Maggie from boredom ever since :)

Jenna and Maggie are as different as day and night...Jenna loving to dress up and play with Princess dolls....Maggie loving to pretend to be an animal or get dirty....but they can be so cute together!
here they are at age 2

They have spent so much time together and are learning to compromise when it comes to the games they play.  There is usually at least one episode of pouting on my daughter's part for the 2 of them failing to agree on something.....but, they bounce back and enjoy eachother's company again.

The point of all this being.......having good friends is awesome! Now that we've moved and don't live 10 minutes away from eachother anymore, we really miss being near them *sniff*

So, to change the subject a bit....but stay with me....if you recall some bits and pieces Sheree sent me to make a doll out of.....

Part of the criteria was that we were to give the finished doll away.  Initially, I had no idea who I was going to give it to.  I didn't even know if I could pull the dollmaking part off...haha!

But, I gave it a go....and created this....

I didn't use a pattern, just sketched right on the fabric and cut it out.

I tried to use every single different thing Sheree sent....from the buttons, to the pretty purple doily, to the sheer fuschia sari fabric....and that lovely, lovely face!
I had to figure out how to put hair on her....something I probably won't do again anytime soon...haha!
What a learning experience this project turned out to be.  It really pushed me to try new things and to get more comfortable with my sewing machine!

While visiting last week, I told Jacque that I had made a mermaid doll.  Jenna overheard and showed me a picture of a mermaid doll she had lost....and still missed.  It was then that I knew that this doll was supposed to belong to Jenna!  I put the hair on the next day and added the rainbow yarn just for her.  She adores rainbows :)
This is a pic Jacque took for me just after Jenna unwrapped it.  I'm still waiting to hear what she named it!
She and her mom have made our lives so much more fun, so much...well, just.... more! ....and I love them for it!!!

Maggie wasn't interested in having the Mermaid...but was a little concerned about me making something for Jenna and not for her...I laughingly mentioned I could make her a dolphin (1 of her top 3 favorite animals) and they could play together with their dolls...
I say laughingly cuz half the time she forgets or never says anything about all the things she wants me to make her...and I just let the idea float away....

But, I wanted to make sure I followed thru this time...not only because I love her, but because I wanted Jenna to cross her mind when she played with it....
Here's what I made....she named him Jumpers. I made sure he was blue, her favorite color...
Again, I didn't use a pattern....but I probably should have. I had to rip a few seams out here and there.
I'm really proud that I actually made something that looks like a dolphin...haha!

So how cool is it, that one of my best blog friends gives me an assignment that helps me to honor my very best friend.....that, in turn, celebrates the friendship of 2 special little girls in the process!  So very cool!!
So a great big hug to Jacque, for being the wonderful person, friend, woman she is....
A huge thank you to Sheree for being so clever and pushing the limits of my creativity...
A giant smile of appreciation to you for coming back here to read my ramblings...I'm amazed you have stuck with me this far...haha!

....and a wish on a star...for 2 little girls....
That the childhood memories of their friendship will always be fond....and kept dear in their hearts forever....*sniff again*

Go hug your best friend today :)
If they look at you strangely....you can blame it on me ;P

XO,
Cam

Tricks and Treats

Hello All!  Hope your weekend was filled with laughter and Spooky fun!
Ours was superb, also, thank you for asking!
Come take a look!
We waited a little late this year to carve our Pumpkin....but, it was a nice way to keep little hands occupied while waiting for darkness to set in!

This was her first time carving a pumpkin....and she loved it....inside and out!

We gave it a test run with a glow stick and a dark hallway! He was frightfully friendly all aglow.

As night approached, costumes and make-up were donned....

....and the perfect "begging puppy" face was practiced!

....and look who decided to show up for some Halloween adventure.....
The Dog Catcher! (Daddy)

Our puppy was just too fast for him :)  She didn't know he was going to dress up....it was such a nice surprise!  Her squeals of delight were music to my ears as she ran around avoiding The Net!

....and Hoo else decided to join in on the festivities?

2 more Owls flew in just in time for the fun......
--Althea

...and
--Pixie
I'm afraid they couldn't stay long....they used my place as a stopover whilst journeying to their new homes :)

Hope you have a wonderful week ahead....with kindness in your hearts and smiles on your faces!
I'll be thinking of you and sending out extra good cheer your way!
My best,
Cameron

Making Friends

Hello all!
 Look Hoo stopped by....

Some new little friends Hoo just want to say Hi!

Winky's the name of this playful gal....

...And Blinky is her sleepy pal :)

This garden owl is shy, little Maisy....

....made in sunshine yellow and covered in daisies :)

...And certainly Flora is an owl worth meeting...

...her vintage attire...

....makes a shabby heart start beating!

And now I've introduced you to friends new to this nest....
Please stay tuned to lay your eyes on the rest :)

These darlings are residing in my shop as we speak.

Thanks for bearing with me thru that...haha!  I was trying to be cutesy....though dorky seems to be working, too :D  I was hoping to have more to show you...but since I'm hand-stitching every single one of these guys, they're taking a bit longer than I expected.  I am planning to make a few more before I run out of time and actually have to start packing!

I'm also putting some finishing touches on more sea glass hair clips (a metaphysical store is carrying them now, too....and took all that I had)
So, I want to make sure I have a selection for all of you to peruse, as well :)

Thank you, as always, for sticking by me and supporting my need to create....you're the best!!

Smiles, Cameron

Feeling Nutty

I meant to do this post sooner, but I've been running around getting last minute stuff done.....

You see, I leave tomorrow morning at 7am for 3 whole weeks!  3 weeks of camping, hiking, sight-seeing, browsing and general lolligagging :)  I'm looking forward to being among the trees and recharging that something inside me that needs fresh air and bird songs...that loves to experience that humbling peace from standing next to a Redwood Tree older than the Civil War.... I look forward to it....I do......but.....this is the first time I've been away from my Blog for such a long time!  Never been away from all of you that long!  I'm going to miss you so!

I'm afraid that 3 weeks in Blogland will be like 3 months here and I'll fall out of favor with you....you'll slowly forget about me as I tromp around looking for Banana Slugs and Elk....you'll see a painting that reminds you of someone you knew once upon a time, Carmen you think her name was.....

Okay, okay, so I'm being over dramatic! But I do worry about providing you with visual delights and entertaining reads, y'know.....I want you to like coming here!  Your visits make me happy!

....And so, I shall offer you a bit of something to gaze upon, a little giggle, perhaps, and a promise..... :)

Here is a 2nd little Stuffed Guy I made for Micki over at The Secret Hermit Studio.  I made a free hand pattern of a squirrel in profile.

I used 2 different fabrics, felt arms, and like the frog, put a leaf and a button on his bum :)

....But, how do I know this is a boy squirrel, you wonder?  Any guesses?

Let's just chalk this up to a lesson learned.....give any future squirrels TWO legs and TWO ears!  I decided to send him to her despite his...ahem....flaws :)

Can't wait to hear what she thinks of him...haha! Hope he gave you that giggle I mentioned before :oD

And now the promise...I'll come home renewed and refreshed ready to create upon my return!  I always have a ton of new ideas swirling around inside my noggin after trips like this!

So, don't forget about me because.....
I'll be baaaahk!

Giveaway Results and New Creations

Hello All!  Hope you're having a wonderful week so far.  The sun is back with a vengence here in So. California....already enjoyed a icey cold popsicle (coconut)!  I have a few things to share with you today....

But, first thing's first!  I hope you all had fun at the Mad Tea Party this weekend!  I had a blast putting it together, though the quality of the photos would have been so much better if I had access to Photoshop Elements!  Our darn computer is running only very basic settings.  My Hubby has decided to "build" us a new computer....he started last night, but accidently broke a little part already...so it's back to the computer store :)  Sounds of "Dang it", "Crap" and "no, No, NO" could make some worry....for me, it's just the sound of things getting done (eventually) Lol!

The Tea Party was such a great event to be a part of.  I thank those of you who stopped here for a Dream and a cup of tea....and welcome to my New Blog Friends who have wonderfully agreed to continue this journey in Blogland with me :oP

I decided to let my "Alice" help me choose the winner of the drawing for these earrings!

I wrote all the names on pieces of paper....

..... and presented her with the cup :)

She took her time picking  the one "her fingers told her to"

....And the winner is:

Congratulations, Mermaiden Creations!

Can't wait to get those to ya  : oP
In addition to those earrings, I have some new pairs in my shop....Take a quick peek at a few :)

I have some new art to show you, too!  Have you heard about something called the Diary Project?  I learned about it from my friend Jamie over at Hybrid J.  In a nutshell, artists, illustrators, anyone really, chooses a date to design for next year's  calendar.  It's a really cool way to be a part of a collaborative effort and a free way to advertise what you do.  I found it a bit of a challenge to work only in black & white....but overall, pretty happy with the results.  I chose my birthday.

I'm also happily in the middle of a trade with the wonderful Micki Wilde at the Secret Hermit Studio and Illustration!   Her art is so cute and quirky...collages and mixed media pieces....funny little animals....She just opened a new Etsy shop filled to the brim goodies!  She loved that stuffed whale I had made for a different swap and asked if I would make one for her.

Micki
**SPOILER ALERT**

Ssssh! Don't tell her....but here's what I made!

She loves frogs!

Here's the back.

Did you see? The fabric has dragonflies on it.

I saw this button and knew I had to incorporate it in his creation!

When I get her exquisite painting in return, I will excitedly share it with you~!  My ever-supportive Mom has told me to start offering kits to make these little guys in my store....what do you think?

Thank you again for checking in with me today...I'll see you again soon :o)
