Altering Some More

Hello all!  I'm always excited on days I can bring you something new to see.  The Fullerton Artwalk went well.... I'm not sure any money was made by anyone...but Mike's Gallery was full of people hanging out and chatting about art, life and music.  Always a wonderful thing to listen in on!  I was a little dissappointed that not all the pieces I gave him were displayed, but 2 out of 6 isn't bad.  He put me right by the bar in the Main Room.  He and Candace are good friends and  I appreciate that they gave those pieces some prominence.  Plus, I have to remember that I'm not the only friend they have :)  Everyone they featured was a little different and looked really good on the walls.

Mike and Candace saw my last post about altering pages and want to use those in next month's show!  How cool is that!
I have 2 newly finished pages to share with you today....hope to keep up this pace...need to go scour the local thrift store for new books already :)  The first is called "Know Love".

The circled words read, "Always accept extroadinary surprises, know love, feel crazy".

I wanted to convey that euphoric glow one can feel from trying something new or completing a challenge....that fluttery excitement and positivity that permeates your outlook, your emotion, your belief in yourself when you find that you do deserve to have everything you want...including Love and the crazy happiness it can bring you!

I used a little of everything...watercolor, irridescent watecolor, white acrylic, black ink and glittery stickers...butterfly and heart :)

The 2nd piece is entitled, "Bluebird of Happiness".  I like this one a lot.   It hits close to home for me on account of my moodiness.  Though I must say my life is a charmed one, this sweet little page is a nice reminder to keep my outlook sunny.

The circled words read, "Think about being happy, knowingly fall for it when feeling that sad little emptiness coming."  Lots of words on that one, but I thought it all needed to be together.
This is all just watercolor and ink with a bit of shimmer on the bird.  I thought I'd leave it to interpretation as to whether shes actually going to kiss the bird....or just, whistle or coo to him.  I just wanted to make sure the bird looked receptive and eager to help.

Do you think these would look cute as journal covers?  I know I said I wouldn't spend any more money making copies of anything...but if my public demands it....haha!

Well, thank you for stopping by today....I wish you all love, happiness and a little craziness!

oh wow!

I just found you via CED and I'm in love with these altered pages of yours!
I think they're both wonderful and they've brightened my day (and the 'bluebird of happiness' has a special meaning to me so this felt a bit synchronous :).
I am off now to explore more of your blog!
I hope you have a great day.

Congratulation to the exhibition! Well Done!

What a creative way to "re-write" a single line from other books! Really amazing. Have to say I like the 2nd one better. I reckon she's going to kiss the little bird! :)

Thanks for sharing such wonderful artwork!

Your altered pages are beautiful and inspire me to do something differently with all these old books I glean from thrift stores. THANK YOU for the inspiration!
